Nichelle Williams
Executive Director
Colonial Assisted Living at West Palm Beach
What inspired you to get involved with seniors?
My teaching career with early childhood led me to develop a profound appreciation for seniors, which ultimately inspired me to embark on a journey of working with the elderly. As I guided and nurtured young minds, I discovered the immense joy and fulfillment that comes from supporting individuals at various stages of life. I began to recognize the value of intergenerational connections and the unique perspectives that seniors bring to the table. Witnessing the positive impact of fostering relationships between children and seniors in educational settings further fueled my passion for engaging with older adults. Embracing the opportunity to share experiences, stories, and knowledge with the elderly, I found a sense of purpose and fulfillment in making a meaningful difference in their lives.
How did you become an ED of Colonial Assisted Living Community?
My journey in the assisted living industry began as a marketer, where I excelled in sales. However, my mentor astutely recognized that my true talents lie in community engagement and interaction. I had a deep-rooted desire to ensure that the services we offered aligned perfectly with what we provided to the community. This led me to explore other roles within the facility, starting as a receptionist and then transitioning into nursing. With each step, I gained valuable insights and experiences that eventually led me to become the Business Office Manager. This position further guided me on my path to ultimately becoming the Executive Director, where I now have the privilege of overseeing and shaping the community’s operations with a commitment to providing exceptional care and services.
Hobbies / Personal Touch?
The three passions that fill my heart with joy and purpose are reading, swimming, and working with the children and youth in my church. Books transport me to extraordinary realms of imagination, broadening my perspective and sparking my creativity. Swimming, on the other hand, offers a refreshing escape, providing a tranquil space to unwind and find solace in the embrace of water. But perhaps the most rewarding of all is the time spent working with the children and youth in my church, witnessing their growth, and nurturing their spirits, as they, in turn, bring boundless inspiration and a sense of fulfillment to my life.
